TNR (Trap Neuter Return) Program:

Since 2005, Scott County Humane Society has offered the community a spay/neuter program targeting any free-roaming kitten or cat, whether it be feral or a stray. Recognized as a “model program” by Two Mauds, Inc., Scott County Humane Society provides this program to ensure that any cat outside is spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies, and is ear-tipped. The goal of TNR is to help humanely reduce overpopulation of cats in the community, and to consequently reduce the intake of cats and kittens into the county shelter and the subsequent euthanasia of kittens and cats at the county shelter.  There are simply not enough adopters to provide lifetime homes for each homeless kitten or cat. Scott County Humane Society will provide a TNR voucher to any Scott County resident or caretaker wishing to spay or neuter any unowned, outside kitten or cat. A voucher(s) is good for 30 days from date of issuance. There is no limit on the number of vouchers a resident or caretaker may be provided.

These vouchers are free of charge for community cats which are feral cats, stray cats with no owner and barn cats. Ear tipping is required.
