Meet Clara!! She is a super sweet Saint Bernard who is just 10 months old and weighs about 78lbs. Clara is a very sweet and social girl who loves to be around anyone—four-legged or the human kind!! Clara is house trained and crate trained. Her foster mom says with her extra size, she has extra love to get saying she is “extraordinarily sweet and affectionate!” She loves to play toys and is always in the mood for a good game of tug-o-war! Clara is a special needs girl—she has gotten x-rays and it is confirmed that she has hip dysplasia. It is something that comes with the very large breed and poor breeding. Since Clara is so young, the symptoms are not showing at this time. She is very playful and doesn’t act painful. She has been to a very reputable vet and at this time, the vet said that some certain exercises and supplements (very basic—not expensive) would be sufficient for now. They believe she has the chance to live 5-6 more years without any pains or symptoms. When she does however start showing signs of pain, there is a recommended surgery for older, large breed dogs—that is very successful. She is a very loving and deserving girl who has had an uncomfortable start to life. We would like to do what is best for Clara and we want her to live a long and healthy—pain free life! We will have all of her vet work available for anyone who is interested so that they can share this with their own vet.
