Sienna is an approximately eighteen month to two-year-old Husky x Lab. She was
rescued from the shelter after being overlooked for six months. She is taking to training
rapidly and promises to be an exceptional family dog for a household with children eight
or older, supervised children four or older, or an empty-nesting couple looking for a
travel buddy. Sienna is a balanced mix of playful and laid back when her human wants
it. She is confident and independent but still enjoys affection and human interaction.
She’d love a home with a fenced back yard so she can sniff about before returning to lie
by your side while you drink your morning coffee. Let’s not forget her stunning blue eyes
and her soft coat, which she loves to have brushed.
Sienna excels at the following activities:
● Crates and leashes up without a fuss
● Car rides – doesn’t climb over the seats or lick you while you’re driving
● Doesn’t bark in her crate, at the doorbell, or people/dogs walking by her
● Takes food and treats gently
● Likes to play ball and carry toys in her mouth while jogging
● Loves a good game of tug with an age appropriate partner
● Enjoys sniff games, such as the Muffin Tin game
● Housebroken and particular about her “spot” in the yard (won’t poop on a walk,
but will in her spot in the yard when you get back home. This may change with
longer walks/practice).
● Belly rubs and lying quietly by her human’s side for Netflix or other streaming
channel.
● Enjoys non-rawhide chews (rawhide gives her upset stomach)
● Likes other dogs and confident cats. Won’t chase a running cat if you cue her
correctly.
● Likes women, men, and children (my four year old granddaughter, under
supervision, helps with her obedience training).
● Basic commands, such as come, sit, down, stay, place, and out (drop the
toy/ball). She’s at about 85% on these commands, and further practice will get
her to 100% in no time.
● Has learned not to counter surf, jump at doors, and if you tell her, “Back” or
“Wait,” at thresholds, she does it nicely.
Sienna is learning quickly the following activities:
● Leash manners, such as walking calmly by her human’s side and not surging
ahead. In unfamiliar, new places, Sienna does best on a pinch collar or eCollar at
present; however, in familiar areas, she does fine on a harness. She just needs
practice and consistency. She can walk leisurely without pulling with a
knowledgeable handler. She jogs better, but does need work on her stamina
after spending so long in the shelter.
● Walking up and down stairs to match the pace of her human (great for someone
with old knees)
● Not to eat the child’s stuffies…just say, “Not yours!” Provide her a basket with her
own toys.
A portion of Sienna’s adoption fee is sponsored, and she comes with
two free professional dog trainer lessons if adopted within a
reasonable distance from Lexington, KY.
