If you’re looking for a small dog with a large personality, Frankie could be your guy.  He’s not just searching for an adopter; he’s seeking a best friend. He would thrive in a home where he could be the center of attention. Frankie does not like being without his people and experiences some separation anxiety if he’s not with them. He’s made great progress in the short time he’s been with his foster family, but his adopter should be willing to continue to work with him on overcoming his anxiety. Frankie would not do well in a home where he was left alone for long periods of time.

We’re unsure of his exact mix, but there’s obviously some Dachshund in his lineage based on his personality and more obviously, his physique. Frankie is super sweet and loves to cuddle. In fact, he insists on sleeping curled up next to you under the covers. He’s highly intelligent and learns quickly.  He is very fond of playing with stuffed toys and stockpiles them in his beds. He loves food and has no shame in trying to sneak a taste off your plate or from the cat food bowl. He gets along great with other dogs, and would benefit from having another dog to keep him company. He’s also good around cats and chickens. Frankie loves to run and play with the other dogs in his foster home, but his true joy in life is hanging out with his people. He just wants to be included.

He's made quite a bit of progress from the scared, shy guy his foster mom picked up. Frankie’s foster family has taken crate training very slowly to help him with his anxiety. He eats all of his meals in his crate and has worked his way up to spending short periods of time in his crate without getting stressed. He’s doing a pretty good job of learning to go potty outside, but his forever family will need to continue to help him master this. He will go out with his foster mom or the other dogs, but does not like to be outside by himself. He’s a climber and has had no trouble scaling wire fences and baby gates to get to you. With a family willing to exercise a little patience and offer him guidance, Frankie will continue to blossom. He really is an amazing little guy!
