"Where are the little dog people?

Elvis is going to make someone a FANTASTIC companion. He's a 1 year old Japanese Chin/Pekingese mix who's been with us since June. Elvis is a low key guy...perfectly happy sitting next to you on the couch, or on the floor near your feet. He does fantastic on leash, really likes car rides, is crate trained and does really well with verbal correction.

Like a lot of small dogs, Elvis has a bit of "little man complex." If he's on the couch with you and another dog wants to join you, he'll make a bit of a fuss. Same with the bed. We're not sure why he behaves this way, but only allowing one pet at a time on the couch or bed seems to be the solution. He can also be dog reactive...he likes to bark/overreact when he sees another dog. His adopter should keep this in mind when walking him, or if close neighbors have a dog.

His ideal home would be one where he's either the only dog, or the other dog is one his size or smaller and is submissive (a meet and greet will be required with any existing dogs). If you have a confident cat, they'll do great. If your cat is a scardy cat and runs, he will chase it. We think he'd do best in a home with kids 12 years old and older who can understand his quirks and help manage them.

The "good" about Elvis definitely outweighs the "not great," and we just know there's someone out there who will give this handsome boy the best forever home. Is it you?"
