Dollar is an affectionate love bug. He is full of energy and loves to play with all kinds of toys. He loves to sleep next to his foster Mom at night and gets along fine with the other cats and friendly dog in his foster home. Dollar has been in foster care since he was 4 weeks old. His entire litter all had ringworm. Three months later, everyone else is clear of ringworm and most adopted except Dollar. Ringworm is the common name for the skin infection caused by a group of fungi; it is not caused by a worm at all. His ringworm is almost clear but he still has two hairs in his right ear and 2-3 whiskers still showing positive. He has finished up 3 full rounds of oral ringworm medication and has had weekly lime sulfur dips. Ringworm meds stay in the cat's system for up to 6 weeks so he doesn't need additional meds. At this point he really just needs a topical ointment applied to the two very small positive spots. Ringworm is closely related to athlete’s foot in people, and it is contagious to us; the young, old, and immunocompromised are more likely to get it so a cat with active ringworm should not be adopted by a household with young children, elderly persons or those with immune issues. Won't you consider giving this sweetheart a forever home and opening up a spot in foster care for another cat in need?
