Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) : : Male : : Baby : : Medium
Rocket Raccoon is so named because he shares half a raccoon mask with his brother, Ricky Raccoon. Rocket is a happy little kitten with an amazing set of ear floofs. He's playful, snuggly, and gets along well with the other foster and adult cats in his foster home. It's unknown how he would do around dogs, but given his young age, he would probably adjust quickly. Rocket is currently dealing with ringworm , which is the common name for the skin infection caused by a group of fungi; it is not caused by a worm at all. Ringworm is closely related to athlete’s foot in people, and it is contagious to us; the young, old, and the immunocompromised are more likely to get it so a cat with active ringworm should not be adopted by a household with young children, elderly persons, or those with suppressed immune systems. Ringworm treatment typically takes about six weeks and involves giving the cat a once-daily oral medication in conjunction with lime sulfur dipping. Rocket's treatment started on January 8, so we think he'll be ready for his forever home by March 22 (yes, he's had a long haul!). We offer reduced adoption fees of $15 for adult cats and $25 for cats under one year if you adopt and take them home while they have active ringworm. If you would like more information on adopting a cat with ringworm, submit an application and we will contact you. DOB: 10/14/2020 Adoption fee: $80 (6% KY sales tax included)
